Dr. Carlee Van Dyk

Dr Carlee Van Dyk is a third year registrar with the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Medicine physicians, having commenced her training in 2016.

She originally completed her training at Monash university, and went on to work at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne gaining experience in emergency medicine and trauma. Carlee is currently the team doctor for the Australian Diamonds Netball team, having been appointed to the role in 2018. Carlee is also the team doctor for the inaugural Richmond FC AFLW team for 2020.

Prior to this, she has worked extensively in Australian Rules Football, looking after the Geelong Football Club VFL team from 2016-17, and the Carlton AFLW team in 2018. Through this, she has developed experience in the management of concussion management, and recently presented a seminar at the Netball World Cup on the best practice management of concussion in Netball.

Carlee also has a great love for Winter Sports, and has recently completed a ski season in Chamonix, France, where she undertook a Wilderness Medicine on Skis training course. Carlee was the chief medical officer for the Australian Youth Winter Olympic team in Lausanne in January 2020, and thoroughly enjoyed her time developing further skills in an alpine environment

 


Additionally, Carlee is the Chief Medical Officer for Softball Australia, and has recently been assisting in preparing the team as they approach the Olympic Games Qualifiers. She has also worked in elite soccer, providing match day coverage in the A-League, and spent a season with Melbourne City’s premiership winning women’s team in 2016.

Beside her clinical practice, Carlee works as a Medical Advisor to Worksafe Victoria and TAC, and has a sound understanding of the unique challenges for patients when returning to work. Given the importance of work to a person’s wellbeing, Carlee is a volunteer mentor with Fitted For Work, which helps under privileged women re- enter the workforce. She is also the Victorian Ambassador for 10x10 philanthropy, which supports grass roots charities by combining fundraising with social engagements for young professionals.

Carlee has a great passion for physical activity, and is usually carrying some sort of injury sustained whilst mountain biking. She trained and worked as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor whilst studying at University, and enjoys integrating appropriate physical activity into treatment plans for both rehabilitation and general health.
